Salesforce App Builder Review

Image
Time I studied for 2 weeks before taking the test. I wanted to take it on April 30th, the last day of April. Why App Builder? Work and personal pick related. I failed the PD2 twice and decided to take a break. I'm going to wait for the PD2 test to update itself. The PD2 went from a passing cutoff of 62% to 70%. I wish I took it sooner before they made it more difficult. I heard the App Builder was easier and needed a confidence boost. Work also likes it and that was my next pick anyway. It also seems to be in high demand like the PD1 and Admin. Resources Superbadges. The App Builder has three superbadges. I got the Process Automation and Security Specialist superbadge. I didn't get to App Customization. Focusonforce.com Notecards Difficulty This one felt the same as Admin. I got 1% better on Admin then App Builder.

Totally Debt Free

On April 24 I paid off my Dodge Dart. I got the Dart back in January 2017 out of necessity. Someone rear-ended my 2003 Black Dodge Neon and it was totaled. The loan from US Bank was around $9,882 and I put 2K down on the car. So the Dart came out to be $11,882. $32,200 Student Loans $11,882 Car Loan ________________________ $44,082 Paid off Its pretty crazy to owe $44K as a 22-year old. I think everyone should take debt seriously and pay it off ASAP. It hinders your financial power when you have to worry about a $500 payment here, a $180 payment there... What would happen if you had that money every month? What happens if you get sick, laid off, a recession hits, etc. May 5, 2018 is when I graduated from Baldwin Wallace University with a software engineering degree. Did it pay off? I'd say so. Having a degree lets you work at places that require one. My last place of employment required a degree, no exceptions. Without that experience, I wouldn't have landed my BEST...

CCDC Midwest Regionals Review

Image
On March 14, 2020 University of Akron placed 6th out of 9 teams at the Midwest Regional CCDC. Akron placed 3rd during Wildcards and was knocked out of Regionals by 1 spot. Two 1st Place State teams in the Region quit last minute, making room for Akron to compete in their place. Since Akron was notified Thursday at 12pm (Have to leave Akron at 4:30pm to make it to Chicago at a reasonable time), most of the team members had work duties and did not take time off. The Firewall Admin Amanda was the only Akron person who could leave on short notice. Teams that participated were: DePaul University IL (1st) IndianaTech IN (3rd) Purdue University IN Baker College Flint MI Pine Technical & Community College MN (4th) St. Cloud State University MN Baldwin Wallace University OH (2nd) University of Akron OH (6th) University of Wisconsin-Stout WI Missing 1st Place Kentucky NKU and Southeast Missouri Personal Writeup: I've been doing CCDC for 4 years now. CCDC Ohio Qualifiers 2020 Review

Image
Ohio: The most competitive State in the Midwest Region On February 1st University of Akron won 2nd in Ohio for CCDC State Qualifiers. The team included Logan Curry (Team Captain), Collin Carrick (Linux Admin), Kyle Johnson (Linux Admin), Brandon Musgrave (Web Admin), Nick King (Windows Admin), James Vongsaphay (Windows Admin), Doug Enos (Splunk Admin), Amanda Szampias (Firewall/Network Admin), and Benjamin Russel (Alternate). UA has advanced to the Wildcards Match on February 29. Other Teams from Ohio Include: Baldwin Wallace University, Cedarville University, Kent State University, Lakeland Community College, Lorain County Community College, Ohio State University, and Tiffin University. That is 8 Ohio teams! OSU, Kent State, Tiffin, and UA are brand new 2020 teams. Review This is the first time I competed with a full-sized 8 person team. My past teams had 2, 4, or 5 members. Now we are full power! It was so NICE to stay in my Palo Alto/Windows 8 home base. The team could ...

Salesforce Admin Cert Review

Image
Time: I studied for a total of 14 days. I wanted to take the exam in 7 days. However I couldn't keep up the 200mph @ 200mph pace. The Security+ took a dent and I needed to stop at a Rest Stop for 3 days. The Admin can be a bit dry and and sometimes I found myself looking at the screen for 10 minutes at the same question. My Security+ date was not meant for Dec 23rd but Dec 27th. I took it a week early so I could study an extra week for Admin. This was a very smart decision as I needed the extra week. Cost Cert: $0. Work paid the $200. FocusOnForce: $20. How To Study I used FocusOnForce and googled topics I didn't know. For example if a question said "Salesforce Knowledge" or "Duplicate Rules", I would look that up on YouTube and then do a trailhead or experiment on it. I used these Resources: 1. FocusOnForce 2. YouTube 3. Trailheads 4. Experimenting around in my Free Developer Org If you mix it up, studying is better. Difficulty I ...

Security+ Review

Security+ Review Time I studied for two weeks. I took a break in the middle to run a phishing campaign. Campaign Video Cost Exam: $265.00 from SuperVoucher.com with an expiration date of June. I was not paying $399. Boson Practice Test: $80 Dion Exams: $29. The Boson practice test was higher quality than Dion. You also need to do the full 90 questions on Dion to get the explanation vs 1 question at a time with an explanation from Boson. Strategy I watched Professor Messer videos while making notes on the Exam Topic PDF. www.professormesser.com This is my third attempt at the Security+. The Security+ was always my 2nd Pick and each time I was too busy to continue. I thought 'Oh great, this guy again'. Then you will see Messer for 7-14 days straight. You will become best buds. I definitely did not want to revisit for a 4th attempt! Difficulty The Security+ is the easiest exam I have taken in 2019. I could have probably passed it without studying. Its sim...

Ubuntu 18.04 IP Address Tutorial

Image
Any problem that takes me more than 1 hour I'm documenting! I had such a tough time going from DHCP to Static IP address. I didn't want to rely on GUI. Here is how: Step 1: Don't use/etc/network/interfaces! Step 2: Follow the Screenshot Static IP Address Example: Dynamic DHCP IP Address Example Make sure to use "sudo netplan apply" and "service networking restart" after you edit the /etc/netplan/01_network_manager_all.yaml file. That's it!
